Ilhan Omar Arrested For Protesting To Overturn Roe v. Wade Court Decision
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was arrested during civil disobedience this afternoon outside the Supreme Court of the United States in protest of the court's evisceration of fundamental liberties and overturning of Roe v. Wade.
She claimed that a revolutionary court with no regard for precedent or our fundamental rights is attacking women's reproductive rights across the nation.
Later, Omar issued a post on Twitter in which she claimed that she was detained "while participating in a civil disobedience action" and that she would use all of her influence to raise the alarm.
Since entering Congress in 2019, Rep. Omar has been a champion for reproductive justice and abortion rights. The Women's Health Protection Act has her support.
Omar claims she received a ticket and must pay a $50 fee in an interview with Esme Murphy of WCCO. While she was being held in jail, her image was also taken, but no fingerprints.
Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri tweeted a picture of herself and fellow lawmakers Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib participating in the demonstration, which she later removed.

Ilhan Omar Is Rumored To Have Married Her Brother
Rep. Lauren Boebert brought back unsubstantiated accusations that Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother to commit immigration fraud.
The second husband of Omar, according to conservative websites, was her brother. However, no concrete proof, such as a birth certificate or other legal document, has emerged to support the claim.
Boebert referred to Omar's "brother-husband" and referred to Omar as a member of the "Jihad Squad" in a speech he gave on the House floor on November 17.
In a statement on Tuesday, Trump added additional fuel to the fire by accusing Omar of "abandoning her nation" and said, "she should apologize for marrying her brother." Omar immigrated to the U.S. as a young child.
Omar, who was born in Somalia in 1982, fled to America as a refugee in 1995 together with her father and siblings, settling in Minneapolis. It was then that she attained U.S. citizenship.
