Before U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart of the Southern District of Florida, he made his initial appearance. The defendant violated one of the most fundamental and sacred rights protected by the Constitution by abusing a social media platform.

To prevent people from exercising their constitutional right to vote, he was accused of collaborating with others before the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election by using a variety of social media platforms to broadcast false information.

According to the complaint, Mackey built a Twitter following of over 58,000 people in 2016. In addition, the MIT Media Lab's analysis from February 2016 placed Mackey as the 107th most significant election influencer.

With Mackey's arrest, the authorities send a message that individuals attempting to undermine the democratic process in this way cannot hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to get away with their crimes.

Douglass Mackey Jail Sentence And Mugshot On Web

Recently, after Douglass Mackey had a jail sentence of ten years for his wrong deeds, people started searching for his mugshots on the web.

To persuade supporters of one of the presidential candidates to "vote" by text message or social media, Mackey collaborated with others to use Twitter and other social media platforms to spread false statements.

Mackey is accused of tweeting a picture of an African American woman in front of a placard that read "African Americans for the Candidate." The wording on the image read: "Avoid the Line.

The claims in the complaint are just that—allegations—and the defendant is innocent until and unless found guilty. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Erik Paulsen, Nathan Reilly, and James Mann of the Criminal Division Public Integrity Section.

What Mackey reportedly did to obstruct this procedure by encouraging voters to cast their ballots via text is illegal and amounts to nothing less than vote stealing.

Douglass Mackey was a resident of west Palm Beach, who was a social media influencer under the name, Ricky Vaughn.

His accounts were suspended in federal court for deliberately disseminating false material after the 2016 presidential election. He was a well-known Twitter troll in 2016.

According to the complaint, Mackey and other defendants planned "to create and disseminate these messages in such a way that supporters of the candidate would be led to believe the false information within."

The MIT Media Lab listed one of Mackey's Twitter handles mentioned in the complaint, @Ricky Vaughn99, as the 107th most significant influence in 2016.

A judge authorized Mackey to travel between South Florida and New York, where the accusations were brought, as part of his $50,000 bond terms.
