Kings of Jo'burg Season 2 cast includes Shona Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, and Sello Sebotsane in lead roles. The show will release on January 27.
The program created by Shona Ferguson is one of the few shows Netflix commissioned out of South Africa over the past year or so. It focuses on the complicated tale of two brothers who try to find stability after the younger one gets out of prison.
Throw in a bit of mysticism with mermaids and body-shifting magic, and you got yourself a bit of a gem on your hands.
Besides, the critics have given their verdict as it got certified as a must-watch. It has scaling ambitions, and its bold scenes are close to none. It's not too late to catch on to the previous season on Netflix, as the latest additions descend in late January.
Meet The Kings of Jo'burg Season 2 Cast
Kings of Jo'burg season two has a phenomenal cast in lead roles. The show was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A series is only as good as its crew in front and behind the camera, with Shona Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, and Sello Sebotsane taking center stage in season one. Their hard work and dedication have led the show to the top charts, and their convincing performances will never get forgotten.
Shona Ferguson as Simon Vader Masire
Creator and lead actor Shona Ferguson played one of the Masire brothers, Simon, also called Vader.
He is one of the leaders of the Kings of Jo’burg gang and does not mind robbing a bank or two. His younger sibling, Mogomotsi, is his lifeline, never hesitating to take a bullet for him. Despite the dangerous lifestyle, he has luck by his side as he always seems to be one step ahead of getting caught by the authorities.
Sadly, he met his end in mid-2021 after he got admitted to Pinehaven Hospital with COVID-19. His condition progressively worsened as even the doctors from the capital could not save him.
Although he will not show up in the upcoming season, we will find his traces through flashbacks and name drops.
Zolisa Xaluva as Mogomotsi Mo Masire
South African actor and entrepreneur Zolisa Xaluva also takes one of the lead roles of Mogomotsi Masire in the hit series.
His name is a mouthful, so the ones close to him call him Mo. He is not as lucky as his older brother as he arrived fresh out of jail and decided to restart his life. He does not feel that his family has his back after his only blood relative and his associates did not drop by for a visit.
Also, he is father to a spoiled son Tlotlo, played by TK Sebothoma, but does not seem to care much about him, leaving him in the care of Simon.
Tsholofelo Matshaba as Jazmine Gueme
The firey detective Tsholofelo Matshaba is one of the primary characters of the South African crime drama and gets perfectly embodied by actress Tsholofelo Matshaba.
Her goal is to cleanse her city from the mafia, as she does not mind rubbing the higher-ups the wrong way to do so. She captured Mo for the robbery that his elder brother did to irritate the crime lord.
Indeed, she has vengeance on her mind, creating a drift between the two by telling Mo of his illegitimate daughter Neo.
Buhle Samuels as Angela Masire
32-year-old actress Buhle Samuels plays the wife to Simon, Angela Masire.
She is the connection between Mo and Simon, competing for the same woman. The younger one snagged her first, marrying her before his elder brother came and swooped her away.
Kings of Jo'burg Release Date
Season one of the Kings of Jo'burg was released worldwide on December 4, 2020. The long-awaited second installment will descend on Netflix on January 27.
One of the actors, Zolisa Xaluva, took to Instagram to make the exciting announcement only two days ago. The actors and actress return to reprise their parts as its previous season made waves after its release in 2020. But there is one exception to this rule after creator and frontman Ferguson passed away in 2021.
The story had to quickly adapt to its new synopsis, focusing its lens on Zolisa.
Producer Sabelo Mgidi scored a nomination at the Entertainment Awards 2022 for Filmmaker of the Year, with more experts calling it an unmissable treat.
