AMC new series Mayfair Witches was filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana. The filming of the series first season wrapped at the beginning of September 2022.

This series is the latest adaptation of American author Anne Rice's famous novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches. The supernatural thriller series stars Alexandra Daddario, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Jack Huston.

The series joins the other newest adaptation of Anne's work in the network, Interview with the Vampire, becoming the second series based on the author's Immortal Universe. It aims to focus on the first novel, The Witching Hour, in the series.

It follows a neurosurgeon, Rowan Fielding (Daddario), who learns she is the unlikely heir and descendant of an influential family of witches. Now she must face a sinister presence that has haunted her family for ages.

The thriller series is created by Michelle Ashford and Esta Spalding, who also serves as executive producers, along with Rice (posthumously), Mark Johnson, and Christopher Rice. The first season will consist of eight episodes.

AMC upcoming series Mayfair Witches was filmed in New Orleans Louisiana. Mayfair Witches primary filming location is situated on Prytania Street.

New Orleans is also author Anne Rice's birthplace. The city is also the site of the author's antebellum mansion where the first book, The Witching Hour, is based.

Showrunner Esta Spalding shared that shooting for the first season wrapped up in early September 2022.

In December 2021, Deadline reported AMC had given an eight-episode series order with another Anne horror and vampire series, Interview with the Vampire, in production at the network.

AMC Networks acquired the right to Anne's works in 2020, encompassing 18 titles, including this new show and Vampire Chronicles series, with Mark Johnson as a producer, who also had a deal with AMC Studios. 

The fantasy drama series officially began filming in April 2022. The production started on Monday, April 25, and was expected to conclude on August 22. Fans will get the most out of the extraordinary scenes of the eerie and spooky mansion of New Orleans on Prytania Street.

Other television productions filming in New Orleans in the time around include Nickel Boys (production end date -January 16, 2023), And (prod. end date -December 16, 2022), The Winchesters (December 15, 2022), and Your Honor Season 2 (December 16, 2022).

Mayfair Witches Release Date

Rice's Mayfair Witches is scheduled to be released on Sunday, January 8, 2023, on AMC and AMC+.

Earlier, the thriller series was said to be made available for the audience on January 5, 2023, but it was rescheduled.

It is slated to have eight episodes in the first season -the first two episodes releasing on the premiere day, i.e., on January 8. The remaining episodes will land weekly on the same day, with the last episode airing on February 19, 2023.

The series's official trailer is most likely to give a similar vibe to Interview with the Vampire. However, there is no blood-sucking undead wandering around, or is there? Fans can also surf a promo clip highlighting Fielding as "the key."

The series revolves around the powerful family of witches guided by a spirit, Lasher. Alexandra Daddario portrays the story's protagonist, a San Francisco-based doctor, Rowan Fielding, who learns about her ancestry linked to the Mayfair dynasty of Witches.

Rowan heads to New Orleans to unveil the dark secrets about the past after she begins to have strange and unexplained experiences. As she uncovers more of her family history, she realizes she also possesses certain powers.

While the protagonist struggles with controlling her powers, she tries to adapt to her new identity. She must deal with a sinister force that has haunted her family for generations.
