Brendan Cowell plays Mick Scoresby in Avatar: The Way Of Water. Brendan plays the captain of a broad marine hunting vessel in the sequel of the epic science fiction Avatar.

The Australian actor is also a director and an award-winning writer. He received Australia's most treasured playwright award, the Patrick White Playwrights award, in 2001 for his play Bed and won the Griffin Playwright award for most outstanding new work in 2003.

Before landing in Avatar, the actor was the main lead on Fox Showcase's TV mini-series The Twelve. Cowell appeared as Garry Thorne in the crime thriller, starring alongside Kate Mulvany, Pallavi Sharda, and Brooke Satchwell.

It was in the 1990s that he began writing his plays, which remain to be highly successful. One of his most famous plays Ruben Guthrie shown at the Belvoir St Theatre, was a whole house in 2009.

Further on, he became a director for the film adaptation of the same play, which opened at the Sydney film festival and played a year later at the London BFI.

Playing Tom in the widely acclaimed Australian cable TV's Love My Way brought him fame in the television scene, and he wrote a few episodes for the show. Also, he starred and wrote for the SBS TV satire 'Life Support,' playing Tod the Toolman.

A sequel to the 2009 movie Avatar, one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, is directed by James Cameron from the screenplay he co-wrote with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, along with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno, with whom the trio wrote the story.

While the original cast for the film, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald, reprise their role for the sequel, it also includes new cast members.

On March 28, 2019, Avatar's official Facebook page announced that Aussie actor, Cowell, had been cast in the Avatar sequels, welcoming him into the Avatar family. He was roped in for the role of Mick Scoresby, a captain of a large-scale marine hunting vessel on Pandora.

The movie follows Jake Sully living with his family in Pandora and exploring the oceans of the extrasolar moon to meet the Metkayina clan. The additional cast for the sequel is Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement.

A Lightstorm Entertainment and TSG Entertainment, the sequel, is the second movie in the Avatar franchise. Originally aimed to release in 2014, after two sequels were announced in 2010 post the first film's massive success, the movie got delayed for over a decade.

The sci-fi movie finally hit the theatres on December 6 in the UK and December 16 in the US after much awaited.
