Wayne Mackie was the NFL’s vice president of officiating evaluation and development. He started working as an NFL official (2007-2017).
He had officiated eight playoff games during his 10 seasons on the field. Mackie was also the head linesman for Super Bowl 50 where the Denver Broncos defeat the Carolina Panthers.

According to the reports, Wayne Mackie died at the age of 62. On the official statement, they mentioned Wayne took his last breath on March 24 in Florida.

He is survived by his wife Tonya and their three daughters. They further wrote Wayne who entered NFL in 2007 had spent 10 years establishing himself as one of the League's top officials.
After ending his on-field officiating career in 2016, he joined the officiating department in 2017. He was continuing to pass on his skills and knowledge to the next generation.

Mackie who was born and grew up in Brooklyn had sports as a big part of his childhood. He paid football in high school, however, he didn't play during his college time.
Prior to being an officiator, he was playing basketball in New York City's famed West 4th Street tournament. He then officiated in the MEAC from 1997-2000.
Mackie then went to work in the Atlantic 10 Conference from 2000-2001. He also joined the Big East Conference and also officiated in the Arena League
