Is Richie Anderson Gay?

Richie Anderson has openly admitted to being gay.

In an attempt to demonstrate the challenges of homophobia in sports, he came out as gay to his teammates in 2018 after playing a game of football for BBC's The One Show.

As part of the Dare To Tri campaign in 2020, the presenter and fellow Radio 2 presenters Jo Whiley and Kate Bottley competed in three over three days to raise money for Sport Relief.

For The One Show on BBC One, he occasionally covers a range of subjects. Richie has further participated as a guest critic for BBC Two's Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

Between August 2015 to March 2020, he hosted his show on BBC WM, where he began his radio career. He had previously filled in for different presenters at the beginning of 2015.

Anderson covered football for BBC WM during their matchday portions before he started hosting. He conducted interviews with fans before and after games under the moniker "Roaming Richie."

During this time, he rose to fame for his vox pop "man on the street" interviewing approach.
