Former UGA football player Akhil Crumpton has been named as a suspect in the murder of Elijah Wood, an employee of the RaceTrac petrol station in Oconee County.
The Oconee County Sheriff's Office arrested Akhil Crumpton on murder charges in the shooting death of a RaceTrac clerk over a year ago.

Akhil Crumpton, a former University of Georgia football player, has been arrested as a suspect in the death of Elijah Wood, an Oconee County RaceTrac gas station employee.
Elijah was working the overnight shift at the RaceTrac in the 7900 block of Macon Highway. According to detectives, a masked shooter entered the business, pointed his revolver at Wood, and squeezed the trigger.
After nearly a year of looking, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms alerted the Oconee County Sheriff's Office in February that a ballistic match used in Wood's murder had been discovered.

According to investigators, the match revealed that the same gun was used in a homicide in Philadelphia shortly after Wood's death.
The sheriff's office apprehended Akhil Nasir Crumpton with the assistance of numerous agencies.
